Regeneration of Fore Street

Paul, owner of a business on Fore Street, told me he wouldn't like to have this main thoroughfare of Saltash pedestrianised. He says he gets a lot of business from passing trade. Helen, shop owner on Fore Street, suggested making Fore Street a one way 'slow' street and having 'drive in' head-on parking bays all the way down the town with wider pavements.

What do *you* think? How can we give our local shops the best chance to thrive?

Play Areas

How would you like our play areas to look?

Here is our elder daughter enjoying the climbing frame in Longstone Park.
She loves it there ! If only all the play areas in Pill ward were as fabulous.

* Which play areas do you think Saltash Town Council should focus its efforts on?
* And what kind of equipment would you like to see?

All suggestions gratefully received !

Devonwall? No thanks !

A redrawing of boundaries designed to create constituencies of more equal size is going through parliament at the moment. In theory, it's a good idea, but people from Saltash could find themselves sharing an MP with residents of Plymouth. An MP is supposed to serve those who elected her or him - and how would that be possible in a 'Devonwall' constituency where the residents have such different needs?

A rally, attended by folk from across the political spectrum, was held at Jubilee Green in Saltash on a sunny Sunday in October. As a family we strongly oppose this challenge to Cornwall's boundaries, so we all, including Grandpa, joined the crowds to add our voices to the protest. There must have been about 500 people there - wonderful. And then, a couple of days later our neighbour who was out shopping in Tesco phoned us to say she'd seen a picture of Emmie on the front page of the Cornish Guardian. Here it is:

Cornish MPs have met with the Prime Minister who promised to revisit the issue and to do all he could "to ensure that the Cornish Question is debated at the Report Stage of the Bill". That'll be around 8th November, so PLEASE write to David Cameron now urging him to protect Cornwall’s boundaries and show that Cornish issues are taken seriously. This is important for Cornwall !
